Inspiration to paint comes from different sources for me – primarily from nature in all its forms, but also from designs or patterns of shapes and colors, memories evoked, and occasionally simply from serendipitous moments.

My roots are in Indiana.  I grew up and attended school in Indianapolis and graduated from Ball State University.

Beautiful watercolor illustrations of classic bedtime stories for children enchanted me at an early age.  In high school I took a variety of arts classes, but in college my focus was essentially academic. As a young adult I signed up for a watercolor class and was both delighted and frustrated by the outcomes.  However, during the years that followed I took just a handful of classes.  Family and professional pursuits took priority.  Once I retired and moved to Bloomington in 2014, I started to devote more energy to art, starting with my first love of watercolor, and later exploring other media.

My involvement with the local arts community began in 2015 when I became an active member of Bloomington Watercolor Society.  Subsequently, I joined Upland Plein Air Painters, and The Arts Alliance of Greater Bloomington.  I have also taken a leading role in organizing “Paint Bloomington,” which has become an annual community art event held in the fall at Bryan Park.

In September of 2023 I installed my first solo exhibit at Cancer Support Community and was delighted that many paintings sold, with 20% of all proceeds donated to the organization’s mission of supporting cancer patients and their caregivers.

I hope that you will enjoy some of my art, too!

In 2022 a group of local artists organized the inaugural “Paint Bloomington!” event on a beautiful fall weekend in October.  It was held at Bryan Park in Bloomington and brought together artists, arts patrons, and a cross section of our local population to explore art in many different media forms.  It was a tremendous success and, subsequently, was held again the following year, with plans to continue the event so that it becomes a Bloomington tradition.  As part of the core planning committee, I was delighted to see so much interest and enthusiasm and look forward to participating for many years to come!
