At eight years old Dama Mora frequently drew the women of her family on her grandma’s phone book and in other unexpected places. Back then she also had love for cats. Eventually those drawings transformed into her Cat and Lady series.
Dama Mora has a Master degree in Art Education from The University of Arizona, Tucson. She continued a studio art class at Indiana University in 2022.
During the winter of 2020 she was diagnosed with breast cancer while living in Vermont. After chemo she was able to connect with local and online community by selling cubist style drawings of dogs and cats. She couldn’t afford paint and she kept drawing with pencils. The opportunity to paint on large canvases started when she moved to Bloomington Indiana.
Dama Mora’s style is abstract expressionism with some cubism. Her art is characterized by the combination of complementary colors creating vibrant and colorful art pieces. Her most used media is acrylic.
